Wolverhampton’s New Cross Hospital had its winter pressures eased thanks to a new Ambulance Receiving Centre (ARC) that was constructed by Darwin Group in just 18 days onsite.
The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust commissioned Darwin Group to design and install the ARC to improve the experience of hundreds of patients each week and allow paramedics to get back on the road sooner. With a total design and construction time of 46 days, the project made a fast impact.
When Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust recognised an urgent need to develop an effective Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) provision to reduce pressure on inpatient beds, it turned to Darwin Group for help.
Darwin Group’s solution was a fast-track SDEC facility at Sandwell General Hospital to allows up to 30 people a day to avoid an overnight hospital stay.
To cope with rising patient numbers, Hereford County Hospital urgently required a new permanent Acute Medical Unit (AMU). Wye Valley NHS Trust instructed Darwin Group to create a fast-track 24-bed ward, complete with five four-bed bays, four single bedrooms, nurse bases, utility rooms, clinical disposal rooms, a pharmacy and associated ancillary spaces. Darwin Group provided a full turnkey service, acting as both principal designer and main contractor in a project that took just 12 weeks to build.
